GoFund

Privacy notice

How GoFund collects, uses and protects your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

Your contact details; your identity number or passport number and date of birth; information about your business, income, debts and the funding you want; and the documents you or your appointed accountant upload.

Why we collect it

To assess which finance houses on our panel may consider your application, to submit your application to them with your consent, to let an accounting firm you appoint prepare documents for you, and to keep the records the law requires.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. Finance houses process your information under their own privacy notices once they receive it, and may run credit checks with your consent.

Where it is stored

Our application and database, including uploaded documents, are hosted by Render in Frankfurt, Germany. Emails are sent through Resend from Ireland. Both countries are bound by the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which gives substantially similar protection to POPIA as section 72 requires, and both providers process your information only on our instructions, under contract. Information we submit to a finance house is held by that finance house in South Africa or wherever its own privacy notice says.

How long we keep it

We keep application records for five years after your application closes, as required for FICA record-keeping, unless you ask us to delete information we are not obliged to keep. Uploaded documents for applications that never went to a finance house are deleted automatically twelve months after the last activity on the application.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to processing, or withdraw consent for future processing. You may complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
